A story rich with innovation, experimentation, controversy and emotion, the park provides an ideal setting to share the cultural history of the people and places that helped shape the development and progression of jazz in New Orleans.

Live Music Performances
Join us during the week for a Ranger Program to learn about the music and musicians of New Orleans jazz, then come back on Saturday to hear the music and stories of jazz through live performance.



Arrowhead Jazz Band
The Arrowhead Jazz Band is a specially gathered group of musicians, who arranged and performed music selections from New Orleans earliest jazz years through the revival. Come listen to New Orleans jazz, through the eras.

Jazz Walk of Fame

Located just a Mississippi River ferry ride from downtown New Orleans lies the Jazz Walk of Fame, a series of lampposts dedicated to an influential jazz musician. Grab a brochure at the visitor center and take a self guided audio tour atop the levee while witnessing great views of downtown New Orleans. Audio Walking Tour of Jazz Sites in New Orleans

This self guided walking tour of jazz sites in New Orleans begins in Louis Armstrong Park and contains 11 stops in or near the French Quarter. The final stop of this tour is located across the Mississippi River from downtown New Orleans in the neighborhood of Algiers Point, next to the Jazz Walk of Fame. Stop by the park visitor center to pick up a tour brochure or download a PDF of the tour map here. Summer: High humidity, temperatures average 85 degrees fahrenheit, but can reach 100 degrees. Fall: Mild from October to December. 70's to 80's. Winter: Generally mild. Can reach low 30's and 40's during January and February. Spring: Temperatures and humidity start rising again.
