Musicians are tuning up to raise funds for the latest catastrophe to hit New Orleans.
Lenny Kravitz and Ani DiFranco - who both own homes in New Orleans - are among the headliners who will rock on May 16 at the Gulf Aid benefit to take place at Mardi Gras World River City in New Orleans. The event will raise money for families affected by the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster and for Louisiana wetland recovery efforts.
“Thousands of families across south Louisiana will potentially be impacted for years to come and will need all the help they can get to survive," Ewell Smith, Executive Director of the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board said in a statement. "They bring the catch of Louisiana seafood to America's tables.â€
The concert will be a who’s who of New Orleans music legends. Mos Def, The Voice of the Wetlands Allstars, Zachary Richard, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Soul Rebels Brass Band, Irvin Mayfield's Playhouse Review, Kermit Ruffins and the BBQ Swingers are among the many performers.
Tickets are $50 and are available exclusively via Elevate Tickets.
